This review of Gregory Zulu 65 is a new ultra-light package that is suitable for multi-day and week trips. It is equipped with a hanging net system that provides excellent ventilation and comfort.
Grigori Zulu 65.
- Excellent ventilation.
- The removable humidification bag serves as a day bag.
Please note that they have released a new version of this package for 2019. A summary of the changes can be found here.
This packaging is available in three different sizes , S (63 l), M (65 l) and L (67 l) and in two different colours. High-quality, wear-resistant and durable materials are used in the upper and lower parts of the housing.
The package has a double access to the main compartment, under the top cover of and through the U-shaped entrance at the front zipper . The upper entrance is via a spindle collar, which is equipped with a pressure belt. The lid is floating and removable.
To get to the backpack through the main entrance, loosen the two buckles on the straps and the buckle that attaches the large bag to the front. You can see them in the picture. So it’s a bit boring, in my opinion, although such a mention might come in handy.
They also have a lower compartment with a normal zippered entrance. Removable double compression straps are also available to secure the sill, see picture above. There is a partition between the lower compartment and the main compartment that can be opened if necessary to create a large compartment.
Below is a set of two large loops with equipment (trekking poles, ice axe) and two smaller loops. The upper part of the front is equipped with appropriate straps to secure the equipment to the hinges. The lid is also equipped with small hinges.
The bag comes with a detachable humidification bag , fitted with strapsso that it can be removed from the main compartment and used as a top or day bag. You can see it in the video below.
CrossFlo suspension system.
The side view.
They are equipped with the updated CrossFlo Gregory suspension system. It is based on an aluminium X-frame and an HDPE frame plate, which is supported by scissors to protect against longitudinal gates.
Here everything is simple, so the filling is good, and only where necessary. This means you have a grille on the back, which I think is the best ventilation system for this size, see picture below.
On your shoulder straps and hip belt you have cut EVA foam under pressure. The lumbar filling is very generous, as you can see below.
Good lumbar upholstery and suspension net at the back. The X-frame is also visible.
You have two zippered pockets for small things on your belt. On the sides you regularly have stretchable mesh bags for water bottles or equipment. The compression straps go over it and you can attach anything you want to it.
One large zipped pocket is located on the top lid and another zipped pocket is located under the lid.
On the front panel you have a large expandable bag in which you can store a lot of equipment. Inside this bag is a small pocket with zipper and a rain cover.

Conclusion, evaluation, advantages and disadvantages
At the end of this Gregory Zulu 65 overview, it is an excellent and reliable unit with many good properties and built with very good materials. Ventilation in hangnets is the best you can get.
You will see that some people claim that this means that the package is too far away from the body and that this is not good for stability. I have a package with such a tight net, and I’ve never had a problem with it. So yes, I can recommend this tutu to anyone without reservation.
The belt is not adjustable. Instead, you have three different sizes to choose from at the time of purchase. See how I rate this package:
